HOW TO APPLY INDIA VISA IN VIETNAM



INTRODUCTION
India is one of the oldest civilizations in the world with a rich cultural heritage. It has achieved all-round socio-economic progress during the last 68 years of its Independence. As the 7th largest country in the world, India stands apart from the rest of Asia, marked off as it is by mountains and the sea, which gives the country a distinct geographical entity. Bounded by the Great Himalayas in the North, it stretches southwards and at the Tropic of Cancer, tapers off into the Indian Ocean between the Bay of Bengal on the east and the Arabian Sea on the west. In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives; in addition, India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand and Indonesia. Visitors to India must obtain a visa from an Indian diplomatic mission unless they come from one of the visa-exempt countries or a country whose citizens may obtain a visa on arrival, or an e-Visa online.

LIST OF COUNTRIES ARE EXEMPTED FROM THE SINGAPORE VISA
*Countries whose citizens may also live and work freely in India (unless arriving from mainland China): Bhutan, Nepal
*Countries whose citizens can apply for a visa on arrival (VOA) in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata or Mumbai. This visa, which is valid for 30 days, is issued for business, tourist, medical and conference categories: Japan
*Citizens of the following countries and territories who hold ordinary passports are eligible to obtain the e-Visa (unless the citizen is of Pakistani origin): Albania, Andorra, Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Brazil, Brunei, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, Cape Verde, China, Chile, Columbia, Comoros, Costa Rica, Cote D’Ivoire, Cuba, Djibouti, Dominica, Dominican Public, Ecuador, El Salvador,  Eritrea, Fiji, Gabon, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Grenada, Guatemala, Guinea, Haiti, Honduras, Hong Kong, Iceland, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan…
Citizens of countries are allowed to apply visa on arrival: Andorra, Bhutan, Bulgaria, China, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, India, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Papua New Guinea, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.

TYPE OF INDIA VISAS
  1. Tourist Visa:
  • Issued to people who want to come to India to visit people and go sightseeing or attend a short-term yoga program
  • Maximum 6 months per visit
  1. Entry (X) Visa:
  • Issued for foreigners who want to come to India but do not come under any specific category for an Indian Visa applicant
  • Can be extended
  1. Employment Visa:
  • Issued to foreigners who are working in India, for an organization registered in India
  • Valid usually for one year, or the term of the contract
  • Can be extended in India 
  1. Intern (I) Visa (New):\
  • Valid for the internship program duration/one year
  • Cannot be converted into other Visa types 
  1. Business Visa:
  • Issued for foreigners who would like to conduct business in India
  • Maximum 5 years with multiple entries (however, 6 months per visit) 
  1. Student Visa:
  • Issued for who would like to study long term courses (including Yoga Study, Vedic Culture, Indian System of Music & Dance, etc in India obtain this kind of visa
  • Valid for the duration period of the course or up to 5 years (after extended in India)
  1. Conference Visa:
  • Issued for foreign delegates who would like to be part of Indian government organization Conferences
  1. Journalist Visa:
  • Issued for professional journalists /photographers, those who do a documentary film or advertisements shooting in India
  • Valid for 3 months
  1. Film Visa/ (F) Visa: (New):
  • Issued for those who would like to do a commercial film or a TV show in India
  • Valid for one year
  1. Research Visa:
  • Issued for Professors and Research Scholars who visit India for the purpose of research
  • Processing time can be up to three months
  1. Medical Visa: Issued for the patients who seek medical treatment in recognized treatment centers and specialized hospitals in India (organ transplant, neurosurgery, gene therapy, heart surgery, joint replacement, and plastic surgery
  1. Transit Visa:
  • Issued for those visiting /staying in India less than 72 hours obtain this type of Visa
  • Valid for maximum 3 days for direct transit single/double entry within 15 days from date of issue
APPLICANTS HAVE TWO OPTIONS
  1. Option A: Regular Visa applies at any overseas Embassies and Consulates of India
  2. Option B: e-Visa
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR INDIA VISA APPLICATION
All visitors to Indiamust submit:
  1. The passport is still valid at least 6 months and remaining at least 02 blank pages
  2. Visa application form signed by applicant
  3. 2 passport photos in 4cm x 4 cm size white background, must be taken within the last 6 months
  4. A copy of Vietnam temporary residence card, work permit applied for foreigner working  in Vietnam
For business purpose, please provide following documents:
  • A invitation letter from company in India
  • A copy of passport from inviter
  • For business owners: a copy of notorized Business Registration Certification and original Letter of business decision;
  • For employees: a copy of notorized Labour Contract, original Letter of business decision, Work permit.
Foreigners/Non-Vietnamese citizens applying for business visas from Vietnam must attach, among other documents, proof of having completed two years of stay in Vietnam on their work / residence permit. 

For visit purpose, please provide following documents:
  • Copy of hotel booking in India;
  • Air ticket booking (in & out of India)
VALIDITY OF VISA
Regular visa: Depends on the visa type and nationality, the duration of the valid visa, the maximum duration of stay in India is limited to 6 months (180 days) on each visit.
E-Visa: Each e-Tourist visa and business visas are valid for a double entry visit of up to 60 days, the Medical visa comes with 3 entries and a stay period of also 60 days max.

PROCESSING TIME
Processing of the application will start from the date of submission at the Consulate and not from the date of its entry online. Validity of visa starts from the date of issue and not from the date of entry into India. The minimum processing time for Vietnamese nationals is usually 3 working days. For foreigners, the minimum processing time is 5 working days.
